A PUBLIC SCHOOL EXPERIENCE WITH EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS

supporting education and community

Lighthouse Elementary Cooperative is a unique choice program offered within Everett Public Schools located at Jefferson Elementary School in Everett, Washington. Lighthouse is a community comprised of students from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Teachers and families work together to support students by providing exceptional educational opportunities that go beyond those offered in a traditional classroom environment.

Lighthouse Elementary Cooperative seeks to elevate expectations of the traditional public school experience

welcome to lighthouse!

we’re glad you’re here.

  • building community, one volunteer at a time

In addition to following standard curriculum set forth by Everett Public Schools, Lighthouse families support teachers by leading small groups of students in specialty lessons that complement the curriculum, which can include foreign languages, cooking, art, computer programming, engineering, and social skills.

  • providing adventure in....

Explorations provide students the opportunity to learn from their peers as well as from volunteers and community members from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We believe that these volunteer-led activities will lead to the enrichment of the human imagination, spirit and mind.

  • ...and out of the classroom

Opportunities outside of the classroom include exciting Excursions in and around the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Students also benefit from educational guest speakers, and other community involvement, providing an environment that fosters learning and connection.

We look forward to seeing you in the classroom!

family Participation, a Community Investment

By choosing to send your student to a cooperative school you are choosing to invest in community. Being part of Lighthouse Elementary Cooperative means that your student will have many of the same classmates year after year, and will get to know them well. By volunteering in the classroom and attending meetings you are meeting your student's classmates, friends, and families. Each class has a private Facebook page and access to a parent website with online rosters which allow families to communicate with each other and plan out-of-school activities. Many families participate in hikes, camping trips, play dates, day trips, and holiday parties.

Explorations

Lighthouse Cooperative Elementary families participate in an activity called Explorations. This provides a chance to collaborate with students outside your children’s grade level and expose Lighthouse students to new learning experiences.

It is important for young learners to actively experiment while learning and be encouraged to think independently. Lighthouse provides students an opportunity to learn from their peers as well as from a variety of adults, including teachers, parents, family members and community members. We believe that these experiences will lead to the enrichment of the human imagination, spirit and mind.

Excursions

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Lighthouse Elementary Cooperative seeks to enhance the public-school experience beyond family participation in the classrooms by way of Excursions. With the help of fundraising, Lighthouse creates more opportunities for frequent field trips, guest speakers, and other community involvement, providing an environment that fosters learning and connection.
